A lot of things that I was worried about are now winding down. I don’t know if I told you all or not, but I’m going on another NAPS mission and it leaves on the 15th. I won’t have access to a computer again until June 18th which is when I definitely want to submit my AMCAS app because by then Brittany should have received her MCAT scores. But yeah, so since I knew that my AMCAS app would have to be ready to submit before I left on the 15th I was hustling to get it all finished. I sat down for a couple of sessions with my favorite professor, going over my personal statement, and I’m happy to say that it is perfect, besides some nit picky grammatical stuff. I truly to advise everyone that writes a personal statement to get that thing read by someone who is used to writing papers (i.e.- English majors, PhDs, etc.). When I had posted my PS on my diary the second time, I truly thought it was perfect then, but upon meeting with my professor, we made a lot of changes in sentence structure, and some content. Anyway, I am truly comfortable with my personal statement, and I’ll post the final version when I start getting some interview invites. So yeah, I’ve received my grades back and here they are:
Gross Anatomy II w/ Lab: A
Undergraduate Research: A
Life and Teachings of Jesus: A
Photography: A
World Literature: A-
Philosophy of Christian Education: A
I was kind of blown about the World Literature grade…not because I’m some crazy grade whore. I’m blown because throughout the whole year the teacher would tell me how I was the best student she has had in a long time, etc, etc. Because of all her praise, I even got her to write my LOR for my upcoming secondaries. And she still gave me an A-; I think that she is just one of those teachers who feels that an A= perfect, and if you don’t do everything perfect then you get lower. I mean, it didn’t really bite into my GPA, but I really thought that the A was in the bag. Anyway it doesn’t matter, because this is the last semester that med schools will see so I’m quite happy. Its kind of hard to believe that the app process is almost at hand. I’ve finished filling out my whole AMCAS app and now I’m just waiting till June 20th for my fiance’s MCAT scores to come back.
I’ve decided to take VCU off my list, meaning that I’m only applying to 10 schools. I really had no reason for applying there, and I’d rather be sure that every school I’m applying to I wouldn’t mind actually attending. I just know so little about VCU that it makes no sense to apply.
I’m really excited about the mission this summer because its going to be all ministry…not building projects or other stuff, just straight bible studies. We will be holding evangelistic meetings in Lake Charles, LA and Dallas, TX. There are so many people out there who need to know that there is much more to life that what they are currently aspiring for; many need to know that someone actually loves them. I’m just really excited about how much ministry I’ll get to be a part of this summer!!!!!! Anyway, I’m happy with my grades, my AMCAS app, my life, and everything else so things are good. I’ll probably write again to post the bible studies that we will be giving, so you all can go over them yourselves. Until then, peace!!!
