Back to the Grind

So spring break is over and I’ve been forced to start medical school again. Its actually kind of bitter sweet because I only have 5 more weeks of actually classes left, but then again…I have class, so which is better :)? The break definitely rejuvenated me and helped me get back into the routine of studying. Studying for these 5 weeks will actually be much more challenging than before because I will not only need to study the new information they are teaching us, but I will also need to be reviewing all of my past information for our comprehensive finals that will occur at the end of these 5 weeks.  One medical school test seems comprehensive enough to me, so I haven’t quite wrapped my mind around what taking a actual medical school comprehensive test will be like, but I’ll be trying to prepare none the less.

Rather than writing long drawn out posts, I’ll be trying to write more short updates on what is going on with me. Tomorrow we have anatomy lab, and we are basically working on the limbs including the much feared brachial plexus. Thankfully, I found a great file on www.studentdoctor.net which teaches you how to draw the brachial plexus in 5 minutes (I actually drew mine in 2 minutes and 45 seconds after some practice 🙂 ).  You can download that file at the following link: HOW TO DRAW THE BRACHIAL PLEXUS IN 5 MINUTES.pdf. I’m really glad that I went to Oakwood University for college, because we took Gross Anatomy with the cadaver and they really taught us the arms and legs well. They didn’t do too well with the feet, but that may also be due to the fact that I didn’t feel like learning it.

I have temporarily resigned as a moderator on the studentdoctor.net forums. I’m working on a lot of different websites, including a website for my mom’s new practice and I really don’t want to have too much on my plate, especially with finals looming. One site that I’m particularly proud of is the site for Oakwood University Biology and Chemistry Alumni. The URL is http://healthou.org, and its is basically a professional Facebook for all health professionals that Oakwood has put out. Managing that site will take a lot of work also, which is why I took a break from my moderator role. But I love SDN, and I can’t wait until I can volunteer again.

For now, that is all that is going on with me.

This a really cool blog. I am glad your tracking your experience down like this. I am an aspiring doctor and I also want to make a difference in the world. If you could keep writing in your blogs about your classes and what are the both good and bad points of being in med school, I would definitely appreciate it. I can relate with you in a few ways, including me being of Jamaican blood.

    Thanks again!
    P.S. keep writing man!!

    PEACE
