Rant

I am so freaking sick of this Step 1 study crap already that I can’t even find educated words to describe it. Although I only have about 98 questions left out of the 2,035 Step 1 Prep questions from USMLE World, I am starting to feel more and more demoralized by the difficulty of these questions. I’m getting more right than wrong but at times I truly feel like I’ve learned nothing in my 2 years. I just feel like once again I’m gong to do just average on this test like I did on the SAT and the MCAT. For once I would like my hard work that I put into the first 2 years to actually manifest on a standardized exam. Okay, my rant is over.

A bit of tough love is needed…

From what I can see, you provide inspiration to thousands from your pre-medical and now medical school diaries. You were privileged to go on mission trips, in which you provided hope to perhaps hundreds of natives in a foreign country. You’ve been privileged to attend the society of black surgeons, an elite group of individuals replete with sources of inspiration for aspiring medical students. You’ve been blessed with a beautiful and smart wife. Somehow, God allowed for both of you to matriculate into the same medical school! You’ve made it to M2 years as you continue to climb the rung of the highest echelons in academia. Somehow, throughout all this, God remained with you; showed you the light while blessing you with a scientific mind to help society. Apparently, your wife is also extended the same courtesy. Now, it is time to provide that leadership. M3 is within reach. Supposedly, the year you get to enjoy being a medical student. Given the USMLE 1 challenge, it’s time to rise above the insecurities and trust God to help you through. Granted, your sharing about it does help… but perhaps, my reply won’t be taken in a negative way.

I once left you an unusual request on SDN. I was struggling with my Christian faith and I contacted you. I appreciated tremendously that you called even though I missed the call. Today, I am engaged to my fiancee and am looking to strengthen my relationship through God. Although I am stressing a bit about pharmacy school at a top ten PharmD program in the nation, I want to be less selfish and thank God for the opportunity.

You truly have a lot going for you.

    Blessed be

No offense taken at all Kenny. I really think I needed that jolt back into reality. Its often easy to forget how far God has already brought us. Thank you for your words and advice.
