Hey everyone. The school year is winding down and I’m clamping down on my time. I’ve failed (well by my standards) my last 3 quizzes in Mammalian Anatomy and I know I didn’t do so well in the Mammalian practicum. Its not because the information is too hard that I didn’t do well, but I just did other things and studied at the last minute. I HAVE TO KICK THIS HABIT. My study habits are pretty good, but I know they aren’t up to medschool standards yet. I really want to train myself to study diligently. The last day of school is April 28th, so from now till them I’m really going to focus and try to do well. For all those still wanting to see the video of my engagement, its on a couple entries back. I changed it so that it would stream from Google straight into SDN diary, so view it if you have fast internet.
I happened upon some more pictures from when I did research and doctor shadowing at University of Cincinnati. They are posted to the right.
The application time is approaching fast and I’m working on getting my recommendations together before the school year ends. I want to have everything in order, so when its time to fill out the AMCAS and my secondary’s there will be absolutely no delay. When Brittany and I were home, an engineer that we know posed a question to Brittany and I that I really hadn’t thought of before. She asked us what was our plan B if we didn’t get into medical school. I know this sounds stupid but that honestly never crossed my mind. I’ve just had such a confidence that the Lord is going to send me to the medical school of His choice that I haven’t even thought of a “what else”. When I think of it now, the only other thing that comes to mind is teaching science or getting my master’s in clinical research or something. I honestly don’t think any premed wants to think of the “What Else” question, but I guess it is important. I’m honestly haven’t givin too much thought to it, but the lady’s questions has made me try to figure out some things. Also, our Mammalian anatomy lab teacher asked Brittany and I what we were going to do if we didn’t get into the same medical school or medical schools that were very close. That’s also something that Brittany and I just haven’t fathomed as possible, as stupid as that may sound. We have a confidence that God will work it out, and crazy as it may sound, we believe that we will either get into the same medical school or close ones. And that confidence comes not from our own greatness, but from faith in God. But yeah, to actually answer that question, if Brittany and I weren’t close together medical school wise, then I would just apply again the next year. I couldn’t do a long distance marriage.
Dr. Paul just came back from Zambia and he showed us a video of what the famine was doing over there. It truly broke my heart. NAPS in Zambia was feeding hundreds of kids and they just kept coming. There is a possibility that when Brittany and I take our year off for mission work that we will be sent overseas to Zambia for the whole year. That would be more amazing than I can imagine. Thats truly where my heart is.
Also, I’m just praising the Lord because NAPS just received a $30K grant from ASI to build schools and churches for the African Indians in India. I praise the Lord because before this, they had no schools to call there own, now they will have more than 3!!! The work is continuing and I honestly just can’t wait to finish all this undergrad crap so I can go out and do some mission work full time.
