Its showtime baby!!!!! Lol, AMCAS 2007 is finally open! It’s weird though, for a second I was kind of scared to start filling it out, but that time has passed and I’m busy filling it out. I’m really confused as to why all the stuff I filled in for AMCAS 2006 didn’t transfer over. I was under the impression that it would, but from roaming through the pre-allo forums, I found that it wasn’t. So yeah, I have to go through the whole process now. I’ve already filled out everything except the “Course Work” and “Work/Activities” sections. Although I am pressed about this whole process, I’m not doing this all early to be anal. I leave for the mission on May 15th, so everything needs to basically be done before then. When I get back on June 20th (I won’t have access to a computer while on the mission, or at least I think so) I’ll just have to press the submit button. I loved and kissed up my mom, and she agreed that she would pay for the AMCAS part ($460), while I pay for the secondaries ($700). I’m going to wait for Brittany to receive her MCAT scores back to submit my AMCAS app…that should happen I guess around June 20. Final grades for my school should be out on Monday, so I’ll go on that day and print out an unofficial transcript to fill out the “Course Work” section on my AMCAS. I’ll also print out the AMCAS transcript request form and give it to my records office on that day. My plan is to at least have my transcript shown as having been received by AMCAS before I leave for the mission.
I took my last final today in Gross Anatomy and handed in my undergrad research thesis paper, so I’m DDDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! The Gross Anatomy lecture final was a bloody beast, but everything I studied I knew, and most of the stuff I didn’t study wasn’t on there. I’ve been studying for that test since Sunday, so my head was filled to capacity by the time I took it today. She had a lot of questions in the Step 1 Boards style and it was a little hard at first to get used to it, but it was actually more fun answering those than the normal, “What muscle does the XXXX artery supply?” questions. Those questions took longer to answer, but I felt pretty confident that I did alright. We got our final grades back for our Gross Anatomy lab (which counts for 50% of our grade) and praise the Lord that I got a 97.8% (I beat Brittany by 0.4%, lol). I’ll find out how I did on the Gross Anatomy lecture final tomorrow.
I’ll be meeting with one of my favorite professors all this week about my personal statement. She is going to help me tweak and refine some paragraphs and sentences. She didn’t dislike my opening paragraph, she just said that she didn’t understand it at first. Meh, I’ll see what I can change to help that, but I’m not willing to change it too much. She is actually the only teacher left to submit a recommendation to Interfolio, so I’ll press her more on that this week. Anyway, things are off to a good start!
