The excitement of filling out my AMCAS has already died off. Now I’m slamming my head against my desk, trying to make sure that I word everything correctly for the Work/Experiences section. I’m not really sure how formal the wording needs to be, but I know that I’m not making it crazy formal. I’m just describing what the experience is, what part I played in it, and how it affected me. I’m not having any problems staying within the 1325 characters, but I just really want to make sure that I express all the pertinent information in my description. Here is what I plan to list in my work/experiences section:
1) My work with NAPS
2) My participation with the Oakwood Biomedical Association (OBMA)
3) My Neuroscience awards at the ABRCMS
4) Oakwood College Dean’s List (2003-Present)
5) Oakwood College Presidents Achievement Award (for junior with highest GPA)
6) Biology Student of the Year (for freshman and sophomore years)
7) Biology Tutor
8) Gross Anatomy Lab Instructor
9) Oakwood College Biology Department web designer
10) USM (Student Government) senator
11) Research at Cincinnati (still debating on whether I should make these separate)
12) Shadowing at Cincinnati (still debating on whether I should make these separate)
My personal statement is still being worked on. I personally think its perfect, but doesn’t everyone think their own PS is perfect, lol? I think I’ve finally decided on an apartment, so now I just have to put down the deposit. I’ll be rooming with 2 other guys, but they are good, smart guys. Not people who will be having sexing in the living room, or rolling weed in the dining room, like my previous experiences. One of them is my cousin, and the other is a good friend of my cousin, and I’m pretty cool with him too. I just have good feelings about this living arrangement. By the way, I’m not sure if I told you all, but Brittany felt really really good about her MCAT. I know that the Lord came through this time for her, so its going to be fun waiting for the scores to come out.
